I chose to do a review on the movie
act of valor. The movie was written by Kurt Johnstad the same writer that wrote
other notable films as 300 and true vengeance. This film was also directed by an
all-star duo of directors Matt McCoy and Scott Waugh. They along with a cast of
active duty navy seals and special warfare combatant’s composed the bulk of the
cast. The reason that this movie is breaking news or should be is that they are
the team that took out Binladen in the raid that downed a helicopter and led to
a break in what the terrorist that did 9-11 and how they pulled it off along
with some other plots on future attacks. The trailer I have is from youtube.com
and is brief synapses of the movie without giving too much away http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnlPgo9TaGo
.
To describe this movie to some one
that has never seen combat or been in the military would be a feat of what I can
and can’t do in a blog. But what I can do Is state that this movie brings me
back to that brother hood feeling that I got while I was in the army. I know I know
different branches. Yes but at the same time all a band of brothers that have
the same core values loyalty, duty, honor, respect, selfless service. Now with
that in mind let me try and explain where the movie takes place. The movie
takes place in several locations in the word (not really the bulk of the film
was in Cambodia were they shot a seen with 300 child extras and a explosion.)
some other locations were in florida, and John C. Stennis Space Center in
Mississippi to name a few.
If I were
to compare this movie to others that Kurt Johnstad has written it would probably
be a movie that was relist in 1996 and is called true vengeance the movies a nonfiction
movie that is also about military.
Why I think
this movie is part of history well it’s engaging an audience that has been around
for the most part scene the 9-11 incident. They are also targeting every true
blooded American person with a message
that freedom is not free and if you want it you have to fight for it. From what
I have seen there is violence but not over the top violence. There are also some
cruse words that may not be appropriate for small children under a certain age.
For the
fact of is this movie a flop or is it a movie that we should all watch over and
over again , and now keep in mind this is my opinion I feel that Kurt Johnstad
made a movie that has some body to it. Anyone could have made the movie but it
was him who wrote all the intricacies of the 300 movie he put that ooooo and
awwwwwwwwwwww factor in the movie and really brought it to life. For a movie
that deadline.com called the most expensive film bought with a no name cast,
and yet it’s a hit it broke 100 million dollars in under a week I think.
When this
movie is released on June 5th 2012 I will be the first person in my
town to buy it is that good that it will sit on my wall of fame shelf and I will
make a special day to play it every month along with the 300 both are awesomely
well written movies by Kurt Johnstad.
In conclusion of my blogging I have learned
that the guy (Kurt Johnstad) who made one of my favorite movies also made act
of valor one of my all-time movies. I learned
that this movie is even more bad ass than I thought when I first saw the movie,
and it shall never die. If you want my opinion buy two or three copies of this
timeless movie so when your kids or grand kids come over or are old enough they
can watch it and think wow those few people that call them self’s soldiers did
that so I could be free; wow I want to be in the military.
Ps I also have one more thing to
say in the research for this blog on act of valor I found something out that I and
you probably did not know the navy gave their blessing on this film in hopes
that it would drive up the number of people that wanted to join the navy to be
a seal.
